Event Description
It’s David McCullough Day in Allegheny County!
Join County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, Allegheny County officials and the Heinz History Center as we host a David McCullough Day Celebration on the occasion of his 80th birthday, July 7, 2013.
It is altogether fitting that Pittsburgh native, Western Pennsylvania’s best ambassador, and America’s favorite historian should have a bridge named for him. The beautiful 16th Street Bridge was constructed 1923, connecting the historic Heinz plant and Pittsburgh’s famous Strip District.
4:00 p.m.
David McCullough’s reflections on “Bridging the Past and Present.”
This talk is a ticketed event on the History Center’s fifth floor Mueller Education Center.
We encourage visitors to purchase tickets in advance as this event is expected to sell out.
A birthday cake reception and music in the History Center's Great Hall will begin at 3 p.m.
