Event Description
Lift: a new musical

Straight from its smash, sold-out run in London's West End, this exciting new musical makes its American premiere in a new production. Music and Lyrics by Craig Adams Libretto by Ian Watson Originally Developed with Perfect Pitch When, eight people get in a LIFT at Covent Garden tube station on an ordinary morning, everything will change. They may be complete strangers, but in some way they are all connected and if they reached out to one another they might just change their lives forever. The journey of the lift takes just one minute - will they do something about it today or will they choose to carry on being anonymous, walking off into the rush and losing themselves once more in the city? LIFT is about people and connections. The connections we have without knowing, the connections we lose sight of and the connections we don’t mean to have. Directed by Steven Carl McCasland Musical Directed by Will Shuler Stage Managed by Hailli Ridsdale Lighting Design by Steven Carl McCasland Presented by The Beautiful Soup Theater through Special Arrangement with Perfect Pitch Equity Approved Showcase PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE Wednesday, November 13th - 7:30pm Thursday, November 14th - 7:30pm Friday, November 15th - 7:30pm Saturday, November 16th - 4:00pm and 7:30pm Sunday, November 17th - 2:00pm Monday, November 18th - 7:30pm Wednesday, November 20th - 7:30pm Thursday, November 21st - 7:30pm Friday, November 22nd - 7:30pm Saturday, November 23rd - 4:00pm* and 7:30pm Sunday, November 24th - 2:00pm *Understudy to The Ballet Dancer will play The Ballet Dancer at this performance only. "The torment of The French Teacher and the utter vulnerability of the Lap Dancer had a hold over the room that could not be denied, and that’s a testament to acting in its purest form. ...this cast left it all on that stage." - Jessica Mastronardi, Front Row Center

"Lift evokes shows like Company and Hello Again in its play with time and use of themes of longing and connection to build characters through brief vignettes... Craig Adams can write some great tunes; and lamentations of time and regret really ring true through his smart lyrics and haunting refrains. I am glad that Lift made its way to this side of the pond." - Kimberly Lew, Emerging Musicals
