Levi Weaver CANCELLED with The Black Six

Levi Weaver’s music doesn’t fit in a box; you’ll be hard pressed to find a genre that is all-inclusive enough to

describe him. If it’s true one’s experiences shape who they are, spending a childhood traveling from rodeo to

rodeo with his professional rodeo cowboy father (who was also the resident missionary), two brothers, and his

mom — well, that has shaped Levi into an interesting character, indeed. He speaks of his adolescent years with

extreme fondness, and has adopted the "open road" as a second home, having grown up in Texas. It’s no wonder

he’s at ease with the extensive traveling he does while touring; wanderlust is in his blood. Mr. Weaver, currently

based out of Nashville, TN is a seasoned road warrior, often covering upwards of 50,000 miles in a year. Match

those car miles with air miles and fit in roughly 200 shows in that time span, this is a man with a true passion for

his craft and a desire to reach as many ears and hearts as possible. He plays as a one-man band intriguing

audiences with his loop pedals, his dual mics, and a violin bow which he occasionally takes to his guitar strings.

Lyrical integrity is Weaver’s most captivating quality as a songwriter. It’s no secret that his songs are the

musical manifestation of whatever journey he finds himself on, metaphysical or otherwise. He’s a master story-
teller, and yet his music doesn’t fit the story-teller’s mold. His song structure focuses heavily on poetic

interpretation, and many fans have left his live performances vehemently declaring they finally have the words

to explain their unique situations. Levi’s gut-wrenching honesty, his open admittance of submerging himself in

life without having the answers, his struggles with depression and faith, are all elements that unite his broad-
reaching fan base. Other factors that play a part in filling in the lines of this seemingly dichotomous soul are:

two years spent living in England in his twenties; winning a contest that landed him on tour with Imogen Heap

in the early stages of his career; and an existential crisis which led to his quitting music. This early retirement

was fleeting, but serendipitous. It resurrected his vision, passion and drive, while instilling a fresh humility that

would prove invaluable in his new approach to his career.

Outside of music he references family, sincerity, heartache and wanderlust as being the influences that move

him forward. Levi grew up listening to old country, still citing Willie Nelson as a favorite, and his varied

influences range from Josh Ritter, to Radiohead, to Brand New, to Arcade Fire. The list is much longer, but the

commonality in all of these artists is their uncanny ability to stir emotion.
