John McEuen is a founding member (1966) of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band – now in their 48th year.

In 1971 McEuen instigated what Rolling Stone called “The most important record to come out of Nashville” and what the 2004 ZAGAT survey called “the most important record in country music” – Will the Circle Be Unbroken – in 2006 Circle was named by CMT as one of the 40 most important albums in Country Music, also inducted into the Library of Congress in 2004 as an ’historic recording’.

In 1977 the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band became the first American band to tour the Soviet Union – their 28 sold out shows in a month in 5 different cities included a television broadcast reaching 130 million people.

June 2013 John received the Charlie Poole Lifetime Achievement Award. McEuen has also been presented with the Uncle Dave Macon Award for excellence in and pursuit of preserving historic music.

And John says:
"…I will also be bringing my pickin' buddy, Matt Cartsonis. Matt is one of the finest singers I know (sings like he is from Kentucky - that high bluegrass lonesome sound – with a rock and roll sensibility), is a funny guy with funny songs, all accompanied by his hot licks on mandola and guitar.”
You may have seen Matt with Warren Zevon (he played with him for Zevon’s last 6 years), the Austin Lounge Lizards, or the group Bryndle. Check him out on mattcartsonis.com In 2009 Matt joined Steve Martin to perform on Saturday Night Live, Letterman, American Idol, and The Ellen Show the music from Steve’s Grammy winning album – The Crow - (Best Bluegrass album, 2009).

Matt is also featured on John’s Round Trip album, and has worked with him on several film score projects in the past few years. Matt’s acrobatic vocals and amiable stage presence endears him to audiences wherever he plays.
