Event Description
Eric Lindell

http://www.ericlindell.com/fr_home.cfm

Eric Lindell writes music that is as at home on your front porch on a summer evening as it is in a hot sweaty club on a Saturday night. It is southern soul music, infused with R&B and a touch of New Orleans funk. It is blues music, glazed with a taste of country. It is simple, heartfelt song writing; melodic guitar solos and energized live performance.

Eric has been writing and recording songs for over 15 years, and is now touring behind the strength of his latest release I Still Love You. His band’s rhythm section, Myles Weeks on upright bass and Will McMains on drums, have been with Eric for over three years, making their performance on I Still Love You, as well as their live shows incredibly tight and intuitive. Both players are young, but have a swing feel of much more seasoned musicians. Typically rounding out the band are saxophonists, whose horn section work serves the purpose of the church choir, answering in the affirmative to the soulful vocals, giving the music the feel of a packed bar in Memphis or New Orleans, where soul music reigns supreme.

Lindell’s recording career began to grow with a self-titled record in 2002, on his own Sparco Records, where he also released both Piety Street Session and EP Volume 1. Tragic Magic followed in 2005 and sparked serious interest from Alligator Records, which then released Change in the Weather in 2006 and Low on Cash, Rich in Love in 2008. Lindell continued his prolific output with 2009's Gulf Coast Highway, another album of blue-eyed soul and confident guitar work. Leaving Alligator Records, Lindell returned to his Sparco Records label, with the release of 2010’s Cazadero and 2011’s Between Motion and Rest, both of which were combined into a two-disc release entitled West County Drifter from M.C. Records in the fall of 2011. April 2012 saw his latest release, I Still Love you on Sparco Records.
