Not your grandfather's Robert Burns celebration, AGAIN.
Burns is back! And better than ever. Despite the success of last year's sold out inaugural event, we set a few goals for Burns Night 2: A larger venue. Table seats for everyone. A real stage. A dance floor. A full service bar. No early curfew. Easier parking. Well - done, done, done, done, done, done and done. Teutonia Mannerchor may be the perfect venue for Burns Night. Any place that can handle 200+ Oktoberfest revelers can accommodate us. But even with the added capacity, this event will sell out again, so grab your tickets soon.
By all reports, Robert Burns was a man who liked to have a good time. On the weekend nearest the 257th anniversary of his birthday (January 25, 1759) we are going to honor the man and his still-vibrant legacy by behaving accordingly. Come join us and experience the traditional Burns Supper ceremony with a contemporary twist (or three).
Included in the ticket price:
- A simple traditional Scottish meal featuring haggis and other meaty goodies prepared by Butcher On Butler
- Walker's Shortbread and coffee for dessert
- Five rounds of toasting-size cocktails and wee drams, crafted from:
- Auchentoshan Single Malt Scotch Whisky
- Basil Hayden's Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- Makers 46
- Jim Beam Apple
- Effen Vodka
- A full-service cash bar for those who want something other than (or in addition to) the toasting libations
- Aaron Chapman, best-selling Canadian author and humorist, and former member of Scottish punk band The Real McKenzies, in the role of The Chairman
- The "Address To A Haggis" performed by Michael Rado & Katie Rado
- The "Toast To The Lassies" delivered by Joey Spehar and Robert Spehar
- The "Reply To The Laddies" delivered by Stephanie Brea
- Bagpiping by Liz Cherry
- Bawdy music by The Cheer'ly Men and Friends, featuring Agnieszka Sornek, Terry Schiebel, Ryan Macel, Chris Klehm, Nick Haberman, Amber Buric, Michael Buric, Rochelle Agnew, Danny Rectenwald and Guy Russo
- A troupe of dancing lassies, including Jennifer Marino and Sarah Danylo
- The entire Burns Supper ceremony, including the Selkirk Grace, the Immortal Memory Speech and the various entertainments
- More dancing and carousing following the ceremony
The evening will enthusiastically and emphatically feature the music and poetry of Robert Burns, highlighting bawdier selections from The Merry Muses of Caledonia. Stay home if you are easily offended! Come prepared with a toast or poem to share. And wear your dancing boots.
Informal Scottish or Scottish-inspired attire suggested. Prizes will be awarded for best female and male outfits. Men are encouraged to wear kilts, or an approximation thereof. Need a kilt? You can grab one from Damn Near Kilt 'Em on Amazon, and coupon code "KILTTIME" gets you a $10 discount!
Just 200 tickets will be released for this event. $65 online in advance.
