Two groups: one amazing show. Acclaimed for innovation, yet rooted in traditional art, Cello Fury and Attack Theatre deliver two dynamic modern performances. Cello Fury's energetic, original set includes classical favorites and pop cover songs. Attack Theatre, with "ninja-like intensity" (Pittsburgh Tribune Review), blends contemporary dance with live music, multimedia and interdisciplinary art forms to create passionate pieces that emphasize the humanity in dance.

Cello Fury is a rarity in the music world. With its high-energy original music, the group appeals to audiences of all ages and interests, setting it apart from your average rock band. Classically trained cellists Simon Cummings, Ben Muño and Nicole Meyers, along with rock drummer David Throckmorton, unleash vitality and rhythmic drive in their music, daring to venture past classical expectations.

The band's collective experiences have allowed them to perform on radio and television, in intimate club settings, and for audiences as large as 67,000 throughout 12 states and abroad. The band entertained a crowd of 60,000 during the half time show at Heinz Field for the Pittsburgh Steelers/Baltimore Ravens football game in December of 2009, receiving rave reviews from perhaps their most eclectic audience to date.

Presenting work in traditional and non-traditional spaces throughout the United States, Attack Theater thrives under the artistic direction of Michele de la Reza and Peter Kope. Both De la Reza, a graduate of the prestigious Juilliard School in New York and Kope, who was a member of the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, have been trained in a variety of styles and traditions that have helped feed the aesthetic diversity of their projects.

While maintaining a loyal audience in Pittsburgh, Attack Theater has toured nationally in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, South Carolina, D.C., Texas, Washington, New York and Massachusetts; and internationally, throughout France, Monaco, Germany, Switzerland, Indonesia, Turkey and Japan. With its groundbreaking direction and energetic performances, it's no surprise that the Pittsburgh City Paper Readers Poll named Attack Theater the "Best Dance Company" four years in a row.

This special pairing includes an interactive intermission with Gateway to the Arts teaching artists.
