The Sounds of Time: Music of the Ars Subtilior

For the second concert of TENET’s 2014-2015 Medieval Series, the ensemble will perform music from the ars subtilior under guest music director Robert Mealy. The ars subtilior, or “more subtle art,” was an extraordinary development in music at the moment when new technologies of notation made it possible to create parallel time-streams of music flowing together. TENET brings together distinguished musicians from across the country as we create this rich, rarely explored tapestry of sound from centuries past.
