COME CELEBRATE

50 years of No Nukes on the Montague Plains. On February 22nd, 1974, Sam Lovejoy, on a dark and frosty night, brought down the 500 foot meteorological tower erected by Northeast Utilities on the Montague Plains and ignited a national movement against the construction of nuclear reactors and the use of atomic power.

The infamous MONTAGUE MARCHING BAND will lead off our evening of celebration, followed by a screening of the award-winning documentary, LOVEJOY’S NUCLEAR WAR. It’s the story of the earliest major act of civil disobedience against atomic power, and one man’s fight to warn his community of impending danger. The film was produced by Green Mountain Post Films. Director, Dan Keller will join us for Q&A at the end of the evening. LOVEJOY’S NUCLEAR WAR will be followed by a screening of THE TOWER, a short-form documentary that recaptures the trial in its original setting, the historic Greenfield Court House. Produced, directed and edited by Scott David Hancock and starring—— Sam Lovejoy!
