ABOUT SLAMBOVIAN CIRCUS OF DREAMS
"They're not just a band. That's like saying the Bible is just a book..." – Fairfield County Weekly
A rootsy rockin' psychedelica, the Slambovian Circus of Dreams have been expanding the borders of the Americana genre with fantastic stories and performances since the late 90’s in Sleepy Hollow, New York.
Voted "Best Band of 2022" in their home state of New York by Chronogram Magazine, the Slambovians' connection with audiences taps into a greater human-ness. Charismatic frontman, Joziah Longo, presides center-ring with vocals "Soothing and bewitching as a snake oil tonic", joined onstage by founding bandmates Tink Lloyd (accordion, cello, mandolin, flute) and the guitar-slinging skills of Sharkey McEwen, creating a show that constantly evolves "with a little help from their friends.” Touring bandmates also include RJ McCarty (bass, keys, sax), Bob Torsello (bass), and Matthew Abourezk (drums). Exploring the depths of Americana one trippy tune at a time, elements of Dylan, Bowie, Incredible String Band, Syd Barrett and The Waterboys flavor the musical mix. (Waterboys co-founder Anthony Thistlethwaite is featured on A Very Unusual Head). Woodstock-tinged psychedelia, a hint of southern rock and solid songwriting elevates this version of Americana to new heights.
Currently touring their sixth studio release, A Very Unusual Head is considered to be "Their finest work to date." - Rock’n’Reel Magazine, UK.
Fans of the band include: Garth Hudson (The Band), Dar Williams, Anthony Thistlethwaite (The Waterboys), Gary Burke (Bob Dylan, Joe Jackson), Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull)
"Top albums of 2022" – Rock’n’Reel Magazine, UK
“They take the stage by storm!” – NY Times
"9 out of 10 - Love at first spin!" – Americana UK
"The cool end of Americana" - Maverick Magazine, UK
“Longo is an awesome songwriter” – Garth Hudson, The Band
"Great songs and a whole lotta heart" – Sirius diSorDer, SiriusXM
“Simply one of the finest American bands” – All Music
"The best band since the Beatles" – Jim Pons, bassist Frank Zappa, John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band
New Album: "A Very Unusual Head"
Recorded over the last four years in five studios and two countries, A Very Unusual Head is a kaleidoscope of songs by New York’s Slambovian Circus of Dreams. Opening their creative tent to notable performer friends: fellow New Yorker Dar Williams, Anthony Thistlethwaite (The Waterboys), Kolson Pickard (producer Tall Heights, Pico Romanesque) the songs and musical escapades of the band make for a sonically beautiful, creative and adventurous album.
Inspired by the surrealist painters and Dylan as a 12 year old growing up in Philadelphia, Longo chronicles a bit of that journey honoring those who offer an intellectual/creative escape hatch needed to sort life’s big questions. A Very Unusual Head is the band’s sixth studio album released in 2022.
