Please join Acting Against Cancer - formerly known as Kids Acting Against Cancer - for the second show of our 2014 season! RENT, the modern classic rock opera based on Puccini's "La Boheme" will take place the first two weekends of June in the gritty and bohemian found space of The Tim Faulkner Gallery in the Portland neighborhood of Louisville. RENT tells the story of several young artists coping with love, loss, regret and passion under the ominous shadow of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the mid 1990s. Memorable songs such as "Light My Candle," "I'll Cover You," "La Vie Boheme," "Take Me or Leave Me" and "Goodbye Love" melodically remind audiences of the fragility of life, the triumph of love and the importance of living no day but today.
As always, 100% of profits are donated to the treatment and research of pediatric cancer. Proceeds from RENT will go toward imporving inpatient quality of life in the oncology unit of Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

ABOUT ACTING AGAINST CANCER
Acting Against Cancer is a Louisville based nonprofit theatre company that produces theatre to raise money toward pediatric cancer research and treatment. Formerly known as Kids Acting Against Cancer, AAC has raised over $350,000 since its inception in 1999.
With funds raised from donors and theatre productions, Acting Against Cancer supports several pediatric cancer support centers and research facilities. Examples include Gilda’s Club Louisville and Ellie Cat’s Crew. AAC also donates “AACpacks” or goodiebags to patients in the oncology unit at Kosair Children’s Hospital.
Profits from the 2014 season, which includes January’s Spring Awakening, this June’s RENT and an upcoming show in October, will go directly toward improving quality of life for inpatients in the oncology unit of Kosair Children’s Hospital. Instead of just blind check writing, AAC is working directly with the hospital to purchase specific items to make the patients’ cancer experience a little less scary.
