Our holiday tradition this year returns to Menotti's beloved Amahl & the Night Visitors! This season we're taking Amahl to the North Side and the New Hazlett Theater in a new production from stage director Matthew Haney, Pittsburgh Opera's resident artist director. Our cast has both new and returning artists. Mezzo-soprano Olga Perez Flora and baritone Benjamin Taylor make their Resonance Works debut, alongside returning artist Jonathan Stuckey (Macbeth, Amahl, On the Town).
This year the first half of the program will include one of the staples of the flute repertoire, the Concertino by Cécile Chaminade. Flutist Lindsey Goodman, who wowed with the world premiere of Galbraith's Flute Concerto in May, now takes on this romantic work from over a century ago by another exceptional woman!
