Touch of the Light

Taiwan, Mandarin, English subtitles, 110 minutes


When a young, gifted pianist who is blind, arrives from his rural village to the city to attend university, he struggles to fit in with his classmates.  But, then he meets Jie, a young woman striving to realize her dreams of becoming a dancer. The two take comfort in their new-found friendship.  Based on the true life story of Huang Yu-Siang, who stars as himself, Touch of the Light celebrates the triumphs of those who dare to dream.

Performance by The Woodlands Music Ensemble before the film. Music Program Coordinator, Kory Antonacci.


Following the film, pianist Shailen Abram will perform.


After the program, guided tours will be offered of the University of Pittsburgh’s Human Engineering Research Laboratory (HERL), where tomorrow’s technology is being developed today. See 3-D printers, the development of assistive robots, Smart House features and more, all being developed to assist people with disabilities to adapt their environment and promote independence.


Online ticket sales for this event will close at noon on Friday, October 24th.  Tickets can be purchased at the door 30 minutes prior to show time.  Cash only.
