Tip of the Mitt Paddle Fest is a partnership between stand-up paddleboard (SUP) manufacturer Green Veil Outdoor and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to help raise awareness of Michigan’s beautiful inland waterway and state park system. Tip of the Mitt is set for Saturday September 7th and Sunday September 8th at Aloha State Park in Cheboygan.
A benefit for the Top of Michigan Trails Council, this two-day event will feature a Saturday “Paddlerama” where paddlers will participate in a series of paddle events, including: sprints, SUP jousts, SUP yoga, demos, races, and water safety programs on Mullett Lake at the beach of Aloha State Park. Stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, and canoes are welcome.
Following a day on Mullett Lake, paddlers and the public will converge onshore for a camping, live music and craft beer festival, featuring some of the tastiest beers, local eateries and bands from around the region. Sunday will challenge paddlers with a 13-mile paddle from Aloha State Park through the inland waterway to the beach at Cheboygan State Park, including a paddle-through and photo opportunity at the Cheboygan Locks.
The Top of Michigan Trails Council is a (501)(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to advocate and facilitate the development and maintenance of a safe, multi-use year-round recreational trail system in northern Michigan. Currently there are over 288 miles of trails in the Council’s inventory.
Green Veil Outdoor is a Michigan based stand-up paddleboard manufacturer. Built for the introductory and intermediary riders, Green Veil strives to produce high quality, yet accessible products to increase awareness of paddleboarding to adventurous water loving Midwesterners.
