Event Description
Country: Japan
Director: Hayao Miyazaki
The late Roger Ebert called this enchanting film “one of the five best movies ever made for children.” The animated classic is a deceptively simple tale of two girls who move to a new house in the country. They soon discover the surrounding forests are home to a family of Totoros – gentle but powerful creatures (like oversized pandas with bunny ears ) who live in a huge old tree and are seen only by children. At its core, this delightful film is about our relationship to nature and the Earth. (1988; 86 min)
Co-presented with the Silk Screen Asian American Film Festival.
Co-presented with Remembering Hirosima, Imagining Peace.
32nd Three Rivers Film Festival
