Honoring the past, preserving the present, dreaming a bright future. Before Marion Anderson graced the stage of the Metropolitan Opera, there was Sylvia Olden Lee who paved the way. African Americans have made strides i...n the world of have classical music and continue today. This Recital honors African-American Advancement in Classical Music featuring Pittsburgh Native and American Bass-Baritone Michael Jackson singing music in the Negro Spiritual tradition. He will be joined by Soprano Anqwenique Wingfield, and students from the Pittsburgh High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in an evening of wonderful music pulled a culture from Slavery to Enlightenment and Beyond.
