For the second consecutive year The Bahamas will host the IAAF World Relay Championships. The event will be held at the Thomas A. Robinson Stadium which has a seating capacity of 15,000.
This event will bring together the best athletes in the world. It is expected that most of the elite sprint and middle distance athletes.
This second staging of the World Relays will take place on May 2nd and 3rd, 2015.
The IAAF World Relays Bahamas 2015 is the biggest sporting event to be held in The Bahamas. The event is under the aegis of the International Association of Athletics Federation.
The event will bring together more than 1,000 athletes and coaches from over 50 countries.
The following relay races will be held: 4 x 100m, 4 x 200m, 4 x 400m, 4 x 800m and a Distance Medley with qualifying rounds for the 4 x 100m, 4 x 200m and 4 x 400m (male and female).
The IAAF World Relays Bahamas 2015 will serve as a qualifying competition for the 2016 Olympic Games.
Each day prior to the IAAF World Relays, a Junior program featuring high school athletes from The Bahamas will be held.
It is expected that the Bahamas will have unprecedented international sports television coverage for this event with millions of viewers. The event will be aired live by The Broadcasting Corporation of the Bahamas. (ZNS)
Press coverage for this 2015 edition of the event is expected to generate thousands of news articles prior to and during the event. More than 100 media representatives are expected to provide coverage. 30,000 spectators are expected to attend the 2015 IAAF World Relays.
Hosting the event will require more than 800 event volunteers and more than 70 Organizing Committee members.
