Spirited Away

It's a timeless animated tale – full of bewitching images and fanciful adventures – from Studio Ghibli and legendary director Hayao Miyazaki (who's profiled this year in the festival's documentary “The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness”). This enchanting masterpiece follows a ten-year-old girl who discovers a secret world when she and her family get lost and venture through a tunnel. When her parents undergo a mysterious transformation, she encounters strange spirits, assorted creatures, and a grumpy sorceress who tries to prevent her from returning to the human world. This family film is suited for ages 9 and up.
