Event Description
For one night only (Sunday, March 25th at 7pm), BSTC continues their devotion to Broadway's lost treasures by bringing GOODTIME CHARLEY back to the stage. With a score by Larry Grossman (Doll's Life), lyrics by Hal Hackady (Minnie's Boys) and a book by Sidney Michaels (Tchin-Tchin), GOODTIME CHARLEY... chronicles Charles VII journey to the throne. A little lost, a little hedonistic, Charley encounters Joan of Arc and she helps to make the boy a man.
GOODTIME CHARLEY opened on Broadway on March 3, 1975 at the Palace Theatre. It closed abruptly 104 performances later.
Grossman's score is rich and luscious, with one beautiful song after another. Featuring Charlie Duncan in the title role (originally played by Joel Grey) and Emily Floyd as Joan of Arc (originally played by Ann Reinking), the cast will perform a one-night-only staged reading of GOODTIME CHARLEY.
