Event Description
Pharoahe Monch & DJ Boogie Blind

It has been three years of continuous CM parties... From our humble beginnings on Thursdays at the Brillobox, to our weekend throwdown at the Shadow Lounge, the CM mind squad (Selecta & SMI) have brought you and yours the finest in Golden Era Classics + played host to a slew of guest DJ's from the states and beyond. Guests and cameo appearances throughout the years have come from the likes of Pete Rock, Z-Trip, Rhymefest, Large Professor, Roc-Raida (RIP), Rob Swift, Tony Touch, Lord Finesse, Waajeed, DJ Stylus, and many others. We decided after a long debate between two possible headliners to go all-in for the 3 year bash, and enlisted the advanced lyrical abilities of Pharoahe Monch (Organized Konfusion) alongside his DJ Boogie Blind (X-ecutioners). Boogie is making his second appearance in the Burgh and Monch hasn't been here since the halcyon days of Club Laga and the Spitkicker tour. We appreciate all the regular that have supported CM throughout the years, several that haven't missed a party since the inception, it wouldn't be possible without the party peoples. Come help us usher in the fourth year of jams with this special "MC" edition of Classic Material. We will also be celebrating SMI's born day at midnight so don't miss out.

We are PROUD to welcome back

DJ Boogie Blind
Harlem, New York

Harlem-based DJ Boogie Blind got into the business in 2000. He has played all over the world (and at SXSW) for the X-Ecutioners, Pharoahe Monch and many others. As most of you remember we brought him to the November Classic Material and he KILLED it. We are proud to have him back and also a special performance by

Pharoahe Monch
Queens, New York

While a member of the New York City duo Organized Konfusion, Pharoahe Monch developed a reputation as one of underground hip-hop's pre-eminent lyricists, crafting intricate and intelligent raps with partner Prince Poetry. After recording three albums together from 1991-1997, the two split up amicably, and Monch pursued a more aggressive solo style with the terrific independent label Rawkus. He made guest appearances on other artists' records and contributed tracks to the Rawkus compilation Soundbombing II, which raised expectations for his solo debut. The single/video "Simon Says" was released in the summer of 1999 and became a massive hit among rap and club audiences, setting the stage for a surprising debut -- just short of the Top 40 -- for the full-length Internal Affairs upon its release several months later. While he didn't release a second album -- Desire -- until 2007, he was active throughout the intervening years, with fiery singles like "The Life" (with Styles) and "Agent Orange," along with featured spots on tracks by Ras Kass, J Dilla, Pete Rock, and Sa-Ra.
